Press Release of “Nour” foundation for Relief and Development participation in a protest for Julan in front of the United Nations building in Damascus

Press Release

NFRD staff members, volunteers and administrators organized a protest ,Thursday, in front of the UN headquarters in the capital Damascus to condemn President Trump’s recent proclamation recognizing Israeli sovereignty over the occupied Golan Heights.

NFRD believes that Trump’s decision is a blatant aggression against Syria’s territorial integrity and sovereignty, as well as a flagrant violation of the UN. Charter and international law.

Trump’s decree constitutes a brazen violation of UN Resolutions 242 and 338 which prohibit the acquisition of land through war and call for the immediate withdrawal of Israel from all occupied territories and also of UN resolution 497 which declares that The Golan Heights is an occupied Arab territory.

NFRD affirms that The Golan Heights is a Syrian occupied territory as confirmed by UN resolutions and that the long duration of the Israeli occupation does not justify its annexation.

NFRD is profoundly disappointed that UN Resolution 497 has not yet been implemented despite being issued 37 years ago which in itself contributes to the instability in the area.

This protest confirms that NFRD stands in the ranks of the Syrian people in the occupied Golan Heights and insists that Trump’s decision on the occupied Syrian Golan is null and void and it doesn’t change the fact that the occupied Golan is an inseparable part of Syria’s geography and history and that it will return to the homeland no matter how long.
