“Our Elders are our Torch Bearers Initiative” on the occasion of the International Day of Older Persons- The Nour WGSS- Al Hussainieh 

In cooperation with Safad Sports Club, Nour WGSS in Al Hussainieh launched an initiative by the name of “Our Elders are our Torch Bearers” to commemorate the International Day of Older Persons.

The initiative included a medical examination to check on the health of the elderly in addition to a comic presentation. The initiative was  concluded with “Untie The Knot” Marathon to help raise awareness on breast cancer.

“Our elders are our torch bearers because they are our role model and reference point, and every wrinkle in their faces tell the story of endless struggles and victories,” said the facilitator Rahaf Shafei.

“The significant contributions to society made by the elderly and their achievements in all fields were highlighted in appreciation for all that they have offered to future generations,” added volunteer Aws Abu Al-Laban.

Um Said, one of the participants in the initiative, said, “It felt rewarding to be valued in our community, and to be remembered and celebrated on this day. It was the happiest day of my life. Moreover, it was a nice gesture that we had the chance to participate in the campaign to raise awareness on breast cancer as well.”
